Maine Honors Former Baseball Coach Dr. John Winkin

Saturday was a special day at the University of Maine, as former baseball coach and legend Dr. John Winkin was honored for his remarkable career. Nearly 200 people filled Wells Conference Center as dignitaries and former players spoke about Winkin and what he has meant to them and to the world of college baseball.  More

Athlete of Week Tony Patane - Baseball
Patane had a huge weekend for the baseball team. He batted .417 in four games against Stony Brook, driving in eight runs and had a .917 slugging percentage. In Sunday's doubleheader, Patane had a home run in each game and knocked in five runs as the Black Bears earned a split in the series. (MORE)
Athlete of Week Vicki Tolton - Women's Track and Field
Senior sprinter Vicki Tolton won the ECAC Championship in the 400 meters over the weekend in Princeton, N.J. with a time of 54.00. Tolton had a tough match in the finals, but held off the runner-up by one one-hundredth of a second to tak her second major meet victory of the outdoor season. She will compete at the NCAA Eastern Regionals in two weeks. (MORE)
