The Board recognizes the value of a comprehensive and successful athletic program to the University of Maine, its students, athletes, alumni, friends, and to the citizens of the state of Maine. The primary goal of the Board is to assist the Department of Athletics in sustaining an athletics program consistent with the overall mission of the University of Maine. The objectives shall be to assist the Department with fundraising and with efforts to create, foster, develop and encourage individual and community interest in University of Maine athletics. The Board shall carry out its mission in a spirit of cooperation with the University and those administering its Athletic Department in an effort to achieve mutual goals of athletic program excellence.

The committee is made up of community members, friends group representatives and athletic staff. The committee meets once a month during the school year.
