BOSTON, Mass. - A total of 69 University of Maine student-athletes have been named to the 2004 America East Fall Academic Honor Roll for earning grade point averages of 3.0 or better. A total of 42 Black Bears were named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, acknowledging grade-point averages of 3.5 or higher during the most recent athletic season.

Maine had the second highest number of student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll and the second highest number named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll. In 2003, Maine also had 69 student-athletes named to the Honor Roll and 42 student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll.

The student-athletes were members of teams in the six championship sports which America East offered in the fall season including men's cross country, women's cross country, field hockey, men's soccer, women's soccer and volleyball. Member institutions of the America East include Albany, Binghamton, Boston University, Hartford, Maine, Maryland-Baltimore County, New Hampshire, Northeastern, Stony Brook and Vermont.
