2008 Annual Super Suppah

Feb. 19, 2008

The fifth annual Super Suppah, held Sunday, Jan. 27 at the Bangor Civic Center, raised $33,000 for student-athlete scholarships through the generosity of nearly 250 people in attendance. This year's sum brings the five-year total to approximately $145,000. With generous support from Bangor Travel, Maine Savings Federal Credit Union, RBC Dain Rauscher, Cyr Bus Lines and Darling's Auto, the Super Suppah was once again a rousing success.

The $10,000 grand prize went to John Vickery of W.S. Emerson's, while Arnold Garson was the winner of the trip to Puerto Rico, donated by Bangor Travel. The event was emceed for the third-consecutive year by former University of Maine Trustee Jim Mullen, who capably entertained the crowd and dispersed over $20,000 in prizes.

The event was organized by the Black Bear Board of Advisors (BBBOA), a group of community leaders who assist the Athletic Department with fundraising and with efforts to create, foster, develop and encourage individual and community interest in University of Maine athletics.
