In order to be eligible for induction, nominees must be unaffiliated from the university for five years. A complete list of previous inductees is available here. With the support of the M Club, the University of Maine Sports Hall of Fame was initiated to honor the University of Maine's finest athletes and administrators. The Hall of Fame is just one of the many services provided to the University by the M Club. The criteria for selection into the Hall of Fame is achievement in the athletic program, but other factors are also considered. They include character, leadership and integrity, as well as non-athletic service to the University community and achievement later in life. The 2007 class consisted of baseball player Kevin Buckley, football players Ed Barrows and Mike Flynn, men's basketball player Andy Bedard, men's ice hockey player Garth Snow, track and field performer Vanessa McGowan and long-time equipment manager George Wood. |
