In the two games during the week, Boser racked up totals of 20 points and 11 rebounds with 12 points coming against Holy Cross on Sunday.

The University of Maine women's basketball team dropped a 79-50 decision to Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon at Alfond Arena in Orono. The Black Bears dipped to 1-2, while the Crusaders improved to 1-2.

The 15 points for Kilmurray marked a career-high and it was the first time in her career that she led Maine in scoring. Boser notched double-figures in scoring for the second time in three games this season, while Baker's point total was the first double-figure game of her career.

Holy Cross raced out to an 18-7 lead at the 10:50 mark of the first half. The Black Bears got to within nine at 18-9 on the following possession on a Boser layup, but the Crusaders answered with a three-pointer by Briana McFadden to go up 21-9. Holy Cross would never let its lead slip below double-digits the rest of the way.

Maine shot just 29.5 percent (13-of-44) from the field for the game, while the Crusaders converted on 45.6 percent of their shots (26-of-57). Holy Cross also knocked down 52.2 percent (12-of-23) of its three-point attempts. The rebounding edge was close, but the advantage went to Holy Cross by a 33-32 count. Tanna Ross pulled down five rebounds for the Black Bears.

McFadden led Holy Cross with 19 points, while Bethany O'Dell and Ashley McLaughlin each chipped in with 17 and 12 points, respectively.

Brian Andre
Men's Basketball

The Bingham, Maine native recorded a career-high 28 points in Saturday's overtime win over St. Francis. He also tallied 16 points in Tuesday's win over Fisher College.

The University of Maine men's basketball team defeated St. Francis in overtime on Saturday night, 85-82, and improved its record to 2-2, while St. Francis fell to 1-2. The Black Bears were led by Brian Andre (Bingham, Maine) who had 28 points and seven rebounds, and Mark Socoby (Houlton, Maine) who had 24 points, including the game tying tip-in with less than one second left in regulation.

In the first half the Black Bears had an outstanding performance from Andre. Andre had 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting to go with four rebounds. Andre had 12 points and Socoby had nine points in the second half as Maine overcame a six-point deficit with less than a minute left in the half. After St. Francis's Jamaal Womack (Bronx, New York) was fouled, he made the first free throw, but missed the second. Philippe Tchekane Bofia (Yaounde, Cameroon) grabbed the rebound and got the ball upcourt. Bernal had the ball near the basket and got fouled. Bernal missed the first free-throw. After the second free throw missed, the Black Bears got off a few shots that hit the backboard and rim, but would not go down. Socoby finally tipped the ball in with less than a second left in regulation.

In overtime, the Terriers jumped out to a six-point lead midway through the period. Maine clawed back to cut the lead to one with just over a minute remaining in the game. Socoby hit the go-ahead basket with 15 seconds left to put the Black Bears in front for good. The Terriers came back down the court, but Socoby took the charge and sank two free throws with three seconds left to ice the game.
