Black Bears On The Air

The flagship station for University of Maine hockey and basketball is WAEI 97.1 FM and 910 AM in Bangor, Maine. The flagship station for Black Bear football is "The Voice of Maine" WVOM 103.9 FM in Bangor, Maine. Maine football will move over to WAEI beginning in the 2009 season.

Bob Lucy and Rich Kimball will continue to be the broadcast team for Black Bear football. In addition, Dan Hannigan will return for his 13th season calling Maine men's ice hockey alongside Larry Mahoney. Don Shields and Ron Lisnet handle the play-by-play action for women's basketball and men's basketball, respectively.

In addition to WAEI and WVOM's broadcast signal, games are also simulcast free on the internet, reaching listeners across America and around the globe. Links to the broadcasts will be available through www.GoBlackBears.com.

Coach Whitehead Weekly Call-In Show
The second season of the Coach Whitehead Weekly Call-In Show begins October 6 from 7-8 p.m. on the flagship station of the Black Bears, WAEI-FM (97.1 FM), Black Bear Sports Network radio affiliates throughout the state, and over the internet at GoBlackBears.com.

The show will take place each week (through March 9) at Bleechers Sports Grill, located at 268 Odlin Road in Bangor. Bleechers Sports Grill is the area's best sports bar, featuring 12 HD flat-screen TVs, all the game channels and great nightly specials. Through local and conference packages, the University of Maine athletics program enjoys some of the finest television coverage in the Northeast. The home of Black Bear Athletics is WABI-TV 5 in Bangor. New during the 2008-09 season, all Black Bear contests which will be broadcast on WABI, can also be seen throughout the Portland area on either CW or My TV.

The show starts its fifth season on September 14 at 11:30 a.m. ET. The show will also air nationally on CSTV as part of the Coast2Coach series and can be seen on Time Warner cable in Cumberland and York counties every Tuesday and Thursday night at 7 p.m.
