HEADING INTO 2008: Will see time at third base and possibly at first base... named a UMaine Scholar-Athlete Award winner... was named to "Team Maine" for having the highest GPA on the baseball team.
2007: Named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team... saw action in 45 games for the Black Bears, earning the starting job at shortstop... hit .296 with 16 runs scored and 18 RBI... was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI in first start of the season against Mount St. Mary's (3/5)... drove in a pair of runs in Maine's game at New Orleans (4/1)... was 3-for-4 with an RBI in Maine's game at Stony Brook (4/6)... also had three hits in the series-opener against UMBC (4/13)... recorded a hit in six of the final seven games of the season... named a UMaine Scholar-Athlete Award winner... named to the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
2006: Saw action in 23 games for the Black Bears, earning nine starts... often played in the game as a late-inning defensive replacement... batted .212 with seven runs scored and four RBI... was 3-for-5 with four runs scored and two RBI in Maine's 20-4 win over Hartford (5/13)... named a UMaine Scholar Athlete *Rising Star* and also named to the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
BEFORE UMAINE: Captain as a senior for Jeff Fahey at Bangor HS... batted .390 as a senior with one home run and 18 RBI with a .480 on-base percentage... was 5-3 on the mound with a 2.80 ERA... Pine Tree Conference Champions in 2002, 2003 and 2005... nominee for Mr. Baseball Award in 2005... First Team All-Conference at third base... honorable mention All-State as a pitcher... also a standout quarterback for Bangor HS which won an Eastern Maine Championship in 2004... born September 15, 1986... son of Candice and Ed Hackett... a biochemistry major... father, Ed, was a catcher and led Maine to four consecutive College World Series appearances in the 1980's.
