HEADING INTO 2007: Returns as the ace of the Maine pitching staff.
2006: Sat out the 2006 season as a medical redshirt... named a UMaine Scholar-Athlete Award winner and also named to the America East Academic Honor Roll.
2005: Named to the America East All-Tournament team... was 9-4 for Maine with a 3.15 ERA which ranked second on the team and first among returners... his nine wins were tied for the team-lead... tied a Maine record for starts in a season with 15... finished one win shy of the school record for wins in a season... pitched 88.2 innings on the season... struck out 66 batters.... allowed just 10 extra-base hits on the season... started Maine's first game in the NCAA Regional against Ole Miss, who was ranked ninth in the nation at the time... his best game of the season was a complete game shutout against Northeastern in the America East Tournament (5/27)... allowed just six hits while striking out four batters in the game... fanned a season-high nine batters in Maine's 10-6 win over UMBC (4/16)... named to the America East Academic Honor Roll and also named a UMaine Scholar-Athlete Award winner.
2004: Played for Bourne of the Cape Cod League in the summer of 2004... was 4-6 on the season with a 4.98 ERA... ranked second on the team with 17 appearances... his 11 starts ranked tied for second on the squad... pitched six innings in his season debut against Boston College (3/1) where he allowed just two runs on four hits while striking out four... pitched six innings in Maine's 3-2 win over Northeastern (4/9) allowing just two runs while striking out five batters... recorded seven strikeouts at Binghamton where he pitched 5.1 innings and earned the win... pitched 7.2 innings in the America East Championship game against Stony Brook (5/29) where he struck out seven batters... picked up a save in Maine's win over Cortland (3/11)... named to the America East Academic Honor Roll and also named a UMaine Scholar-Athlete award winner.
2003: Named the America East Rookie of the Year... earned America East All-Rookie Team honors... named a Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American... earned America East Rookie of the Week honors March 24... saw action in 11 games for the Black Bears starting them all... finished 7-1 with a 2.97 ERA... threw three complete games, including a complete game shutout in UMaine's victory over Binghamton (4/27).... had a career-high eight strikeouts in that game... struck out 57 batters, while walking just 17... pitched six or more innings in seven of his 11 games... his only loss of the season was a 5-6 decision to Hartford (4/13).
BEFORE UMAINE: Struck out 77 strikeouts and posted an 8-2 record in 54 innings, leading South Portland to two Telegram League Championships... named Maine's Mr. Baseball and Gatorade Player of the Year playing for coach Tony Dibiase... also was named to the 2002 all-state team... hit three home runs and 18 RBI with a .500 batting average... born April 17, 1984... son of Lona and James Norton... an engineering major.
