Bradenton, Fla.- Aaron Izaryk (Markham, Ontario) went 3-for-4, scored a run and drove home two as the University of Maine baseball team defeated Lehigh 6-3 on Friday afternoon in Bradenton, Fla. Maine improves to 5-6 on the season, while Lehigh falls to 3-4 on the campaign.

Joe Hough (West Roxbury, Mass.) led off the first inning with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Greg Creek (Manchester, Maine) walked and then Hough stole third and Creek second. Maine added a run in the top of the third inning. Creek walked and stole second base. Izaryk hit a double that scored Creek.

Lehigh cut the lead in half with a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Black Bears answered with a single run in the top of the eighth inning. Curt Smith (Curacao, Netherlands) led off the inning with a double. Mark Ostrander (Hopkinton, Mass.) advanced Smith to third on a sacrifice. Mike Ferriggi (Bellmore, N.Y.) followed with a single that scored Smith.

Lehigh added a run in the bottom of the eighth inning, but that is as close as it would get.

Scott Robinson (Ajax, Ontario) pitched 1.2 innings and allowed one run on one hit.
