Black Bears Fall To Northeastern, 82-51

BOSTON (AP) - Jose Juan Barea had 17 points and 12 assists as Northeastern beat Maine 82-51 on Wednesday night.

Bobby Kelly scored 13 points and Shawn James added 10 points, 10 blocks and six rebounds for Northeastern. The Huskies (16-8, 12-3 America East) allowed a season-low for points in a game, had 12 steals and forced 20 turnovers.

Mark Flavin and Joe Campbell each scored 13 and Campbell had a game-high 13 rebounds to lead Maine (11-13, 6-9).

Northeastern scored the first 10 points of the game while holding Maine scoreless for nearly five minutes.

Maine went on a 15-6 run to pull within one with 7:21 remaining in the first half, but Barea sparked a 15-3 Northeastern run that put the game out of reach. Northeastern led 41-28 at halftime

Playing without leading scorer Ernest Turner for the third straight game, Maine shot just 30 percent from the field.

Northeastern has won six of its last seven games.
