HAMDEN, CONNECTICUT-- Mark Socoby (Houlton, Maine) had a career-high 29 points, to go with seven rebounds and three steals to lead the Black Bears to victory 64-59 over the Quinnipiac Bobcats. With its third straight win, Maine improves to 3-2 and Quinnipiac falls to 1-2.

In the first half, Maine was led by Socoby, who had nine points and five rebounds in the first half. Sean McNally (Gardiner, Maine) also had a good half with five points and four rebounds in nine minutes, while Junior Bernal (Manhattan, New York) contributed six points, three rebounds and two steals. The Black Bears were once again solid on the glass, out-rebounding the Bobcats from Quinnipiac by a 23-to-15 margin, which helped them take a 28-to-24 halftime lead.

Socoby had what was his career-high 25th point with a little more than 12 minutes to go in the game. Maine went on a 10-to-0 run with 14 minutes left in the game to take a 17-point lead. The Bobcats battled back, cutting the lead to five with just under three minutes remaining. The teams traded foul shots, and on the ensuing Bobcats possession, Brian Andre (Bingham, Maine) blockd a shot and Bernal came back down the court. He made the layup in traffic and got fouled. Bernal made the foul shot to push the lead to eight and put the game out of reach.

Bernal finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Andre contributed eight points on four-of-six shooting and four rebounds. Maine out-rebounded Quinnipiac 38-to-34.

DeMario Anderson (Oxon Hill, Maryland) led Quinnipiac with 29 points and 10 rebounds.

Maine returns home to take on the Northeastern Huskies on November 24 for a 12pm tipoff at Alfond Arena.
