The University of Maine men's basketball team looks to get back to its winning ways when it travels to Binghamton on Sunday, February 11. Maine is coming off a 55-71 loss to Albany on Wednesday night. The Black Bears are 11-13 on the season and 6-6 in America East play. Binghamton is 10-14 on the season and 3-9 in conference play after a 54-66 loss at Boston University on Thursday night.

A LOOK BACK: The University of Maine men's basketball team dropped a 55-71 decision to Albany on Wednesday night. Maine jumped out to an early 5-0 lead before Albany was able to get on the scoreboard with a trey by Jason Siggers. Albany took an 13-10 lead when Jamar Wilson drained a three-pointer with just over 12 minutes remaining in the half. Maine tied the game at 16-16 when Junior Bernal (Manhattan, N.Y.) made a steal at half court and went in for a fast-break layup. The two teams continued to trade leads the next few minutes. ?Albany used a 12-3 run to end the first half. Brent Wilson led Albany during the run with six points. The Great Danes took a 37-25 lead into halftime. ?Maine opened the second half on a 5-0 run to pull to within seven points at 37-30, forcing Albany to take a timeout. Bruff had a pair of hoops for Maine during the run for Maine. Albany answered with a three-pointer by Brent Wilson after the timeout. ?Maine pulled to within six points when Reed drained a three-point field goal with just under 15 minutes remaining in the game. Philippe Tchekane Bofia (Yaounde, Cameroon) then hit a layup to pull Maine to within four points at 42-38. ?Trailing by just four points, Maine saw Albany use an 18-6 run to put the game out of reach. Jamar Wilson had nine points for the Great Danes during the run, while Brian Connelly and Brian Lillis each chipped in with four. Maine ended the Albany run with a layup by Junior Bernal with just 3:44 remaining in the game. ?The Black Bears, however, could only get as close as 13 points the rest of the game. Chris Bruff (Bloomfield, Conn.) led Maine with 13 points and five rebounds. He also had three steals, two blocks and one assist. Kevin Reed (Yarmouth, Mass.) added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Bernal finished with 10 points. Mark Socoby (Houlton, Maine) had six points for the Black Bears, while Jordan Cook (Hampden, Maine) chipped in with a career-high five points.

SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS: Maine is led by Kevin Reed who is averaging 13.8 points per game. He is pulling down a team-high 6.3 rebounds a game. He has 59 three-point field goals on the season. Jon Sheets is chipping in with 11.3 points per game. He is averaging 3.0 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game. He has a team-high 64 three-point field goals on the season. Junior Bernal is scoring 10.4 points per game. He is dishing out 3.0 assists per game and grabbing 1.7 steals per game. Chris Bruff is scoring 10.0 points per game and grabbing 5.8 rebounds a contest. Mark Socoby is adding 7.2 points per game, while Philippe Tchekane Bofia is scoring 7.1 points per game and grabbing 3.9 rebounds a game. ?Maine is shooting 42.5 percent from the floor, while its opponents are connecting 41.6 percent of the time. The Black Bears are grabbing 35.0 rebounds per game, while their opponents are pulling down 35.4 per contest.

REED AMONG ALL-TIME SCORING LEADERS: Kevin Reed ranks seventh on Maine's all-time scoring list. He has 1,509 career points in 113 career games. He is nine points shy of tying Jim Stephenson (1966-69) for sixth place on the all-time scoring list. He became the seventh player in Maine history to score 1,500 points when he drained a three-point field goal on Wed., Feb. 7 against Albany.

WINNING ON THE ROAD: Maine is 7-6 on the road this season, including 4-2 in America East road games. That is a dramatic improvement over a year ago when Maine finished the season 3-11 on the road.

STRONG ON THE BOARDS: Chris Bruff was strong on the boards on Saturday, Feb. 3 when he pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds. He had seven rebounds in each half. His previous career high for rebounds was 12 against Binghamton earlier this season. Maine outrebounded UNH 41-26 in the game.
