Ernest Turner Named America East Co-Player of the Week

Feb. 27, 2006

BOSTON, Mass.--University of Maine senior guard Ernest Turner (Camden, N.J.) was named the America East Co-Player of the Week on Monday, February 27. He shares the honor with Hartford Kenny Adeleke.

Turner averaged 21 points in a pair of Maine wins on the week. He scored a team-high 23 points in Maine's win over UMBC on Thurday night. He won the game for Maine when he hit a half-court shot as time expired to break a 66-66 tie and give Maine the 69-66 victory.

He followed that up by scoring 19 points in Maine's victory over Stony Brook on Sunday afternoon.

Turner hit nine three-point field goals in the two games. He shot 62.5 percent from the floor and 64.3 percent from three-point range.

Turner and the Black Bears return to action on Saturday, March 4 when they face Binghamton in the quarterfinals of the America East Tournament in Vestal, N.Y. at noon.
