Socoby and Bernal Recieve America East Honors

BINGHAMTON, New York- The University of Maine men's basketball team had two players honored at the America East banquet on Friday. Sophomore guard Mark Socoby from Houlton, Maine, was honored as an All-America East third team member. Junior Bernal, a sophomore from Manhattan, New York, was named to the America East All-Academic team. Socoby is leading the team in points (14.0) and rebounds (5.8) while Bernal is a UMaine Scholar Athlete and a member of the prestigious "Team Maine," which recognizes the very best student-athletes. Both hope to lead the Black Bears to victory in their first round America East tournament game on Friday at 7 p.m. The Black Bear will be battling Stony Brook for the opportunity to play the top-seeded UMBC Retrievers at 12 p.m. on Saturday.
