Bruno Dorismond's Collegiate Academic Success Subject of Full-Length Feature Story
Jan. 7, 2008
ORONO, Maine - University of Maine senior defensive lineman Bruno Dorismond, and his story of overcoming great odds to earn a college degree, was the subject of a feature article which appeared in the Jan. 6 edition of the Portland Press-Herald. Press-Herald sports reporter Jenn Menendez authored the article. The story detailed Dorismond's learning struggles as a high school student, which many believed would hinder his efforts of attending college. Dorismond's determination and strong work ethic in the classroom and on the football field enabled him the opportunity to attend the University of Maine where he earned a bachelor's degree in child development and family studies, and minored in sociology. Dorismond was a standout on the football field at Maine as he was twice named to the all-conference team and served as a senior captain this past season. His accomplishments weren't isolated to the gridiron, as Dorismond was also honored as a Maine Scholar-Athlete in February 2007 after earning a grade point average of 3.92 and being named to the Dean's List. The New Canaan, Conn., native recently completed his class work at Maine and is currently working out for a chance to play professional football. Even while he works towards his dream of playing in the NFL, Dorismond still has an eye on continuing his education by attending graduate school and earning his master's degree. Dorismond says he would like to work with special-needs children.
