Tuesday's Afternoon Practice Cancelled

Aug. 19, 2008

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine football team has cancelled its Tuesday afternoon practice at Alfond Stadium. The team, instead, held a morning scrimmage at the field. The Black Bears will return to the practice field on Wednesday evening.

Maine will also host a Youth Day from 5:30-7:30 p.m., on Wednesday at Alfond Stadium. The event is free, and open to the public. There will be a new wrinkle to fan day this year, as Head coach Jack Cosgrove will conduct a youth football clinic for students entering grades 8 and younger. The clinic will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will go until 6:30 p.m. Following the clinic, fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite players, get autographs and mingle with the Black Bear staff. Everyone in attendance will receive a free, limited edition 2008 Black Bear football poster, free hot dogs, soda and water. All of those who plan on attending the clinic are asked to pre-register by calling (207) 581-4849 or emailing Jeff.Wildey@umit.maine.edu. Fans can also sign-up at the event if they haven't pre-registered.
