Ben Lazarski Named Associated Press All-American

ORONO, Maine - University of Maine senior offensive lineman Ben Lazarski (New Windsor, N.Y.) was named to the 2005 Associated Press All-America Third-Team recently. It marks the second-consecutive season a Black Bear has been named an All-American by a news agency.

Lazarski started all 11 games at the center position for Maine this season. He concluded his career by starting in 39-consecutive games at the position. The All-America honor is the third post-season award for Lazarski, who was named to the All-Atlantic 10 Conference First-Team and was honored as a First-Team All-Star by the New England Football Writers Association last month.

During the 2005 campaign, Lazarski was part of an offensive line which paved the way for Montell Owens to rank ninth in the league with 779 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. In 2004, Lazarski's unit was vital in helping Marcus Williams rush for 1,077 yards and move into first-place in school history for career rushing yards at 3,940.
