Director of Hockey Operations

Josh MacDonald, a former student equipment manager, returns for his second full season as Director of Hockey Operations for the Maine hockey program. While away from Orono, MacDonald spent the better half of three seasons with former Maine Assistant Coach Matt Thomas as the Equipment Manager and Travel Coordinator for the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies of the ECHL, who captured the Kelly Cup in 2003.

In 2005, he returned to Maine to pursue a career in economic development and planning, going to work for Eastern Maine Development Corporation. After two years of planning and development work, he returned to the Black Bears in early 2007 as equipment manager and has since assumed the duties of Director of Hockey Operations. MacDonald is responsible for both the men's and women's team equipment while coordinating all aspects of budget and travel for the men's program.

A native of Millinocket, Maine, MacDonald is a 2002 graduate of the University of Maine earning bachelors degrees in Civil & Environmental Engineering and Public Administration. He and his wife, Maria, live in Levant with Maria's daughter Kayla (16), their son, Kieran, who was born last February, and their two dogs.
