Laura Reed begins her ninth season in the Maine Athletic Media Relations Department and second as Assistant Athletic Director for Public Relations. She begins her fourth season overall working with the men's ice hockey team.
Reed, who began her career as a media relations assistant at UMass Lowell, also worked with the Maine men's ice hockey team during the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons, including Maine's NCAA run in 2002.
Reed is responsible for the public relations of Maine's 19 sports. She works directly and travels with the men's ice hockey and baseball programs, while also working with the men's soccer program. Reed also plays an integral role in the production of the Black Bear Insider, a bi-weekly television show featuring the Maine athletic department, its student-athletes and coaches. She also oversees Maine's athletic website, www.GoBlackBears.com.
A native of Unity, Maine, Reed is a 1998 graduate of the University of Maine with a degree in political science and a minor in Canadian studies. She resides in Orono.
