Pellerin Inducted into New Brunswick Hall of Fame

ORONO, Maine -- Former University of Maine men's ice hockey standout Scott Pellerin (1988-92) was inducted into the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday night in Fredericton, New Brunswick. He was one of five individuals along with the 1972-73 Saint John Mooseheads hockey team to be inducted. Pellerin had a stellar four-year career for the Black Bears. As a rookie during the 1988-89 season, Pellerin scored 29 goal and added 33 assists for 62 points. He followed that up by scoring 56 points as a sophomore, 48 points as a junior and 57 points as a senior. He finished his career with 167 games played, 106 goals, 117 assists and 223 career points. He currently ranks second on Maine's all-time points list, third in career goals and fourth in career assists. His 47 power play goals is tops in Maine history. Pellerin became the first Black Bear to win the Hobey Baker Award as college hockey's top player in 1992. Pellerin was named an All-American in 1992. Pellerin was also named Hockey East Player of the Year in 1992 and was also named to the Hockey East First Team and Hockey East All-Tournament Team. Pellerin was also named Most Valuable Player of the 1992 Hockey East Tournament. He was named Hockey East Co-Rookie of the Year in 1989. Following graduation, Pellerin enjoyed a 14-year NHL career which saw him play for the New Jersey Devils, St. Louis Blues, Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes, Boston Bruins, Dallas Stars and the Phoenix Coyotes. He played in 536 career games where he scored 72 goals and added 126 assists for 198 career points. Pellerin is currently an assistant coach with the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, the top affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. -U-M-
