Men's Soccer Falls to NC State, 1-0

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's soccer team lost in a non-conference match versus NC State on Wedsnesday afternoon. A successful penalty kick was the lone goal of the game, scored in the third minute of play by Wolfpack Alan Sanchez.The Black Bears fall to 0-12-0, 0-3-0 in America East. With the win, NC State improves to a 4-6-1 overall record.

The scoring chances were limited on both sides of the field, with a total of seven shots on goal in 90 minutes of play. The Black Bears had four shots attempted, two on goal. The two shots on goal were registered by sophomore Dimitri Anastasiou (Colchester, Conn.) and freshman Kenny Caceros (Ottawa, Ont.).

Junior Giacomo Brunino (Concord, Ont.) earned two saves in the first half of play. Freshman Dereck Loisel (Warwick, RI) made his third appearance in net for the Black Bears, playing the second half. Brunino and Loisel each earned two saves on the game. The Wolfpack had two shots hit the post in the game. NC State goalkeeper Christopher Widman registered two saves as well.
