Oct. 6, 2007
ORONO, Maine-- The University of Maine men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 double overtime draw with New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon in the America East Conference opener for both schools. Maine moves to 2-7-1 on the season and 0-0-1 in America East play, while the Wildcats move to 3-3-4 overall and 0-0-1 in conference play. New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead at 17:08 when Dylan George beat Maine keeper Nemanja Kostic (New Belgrade, Serbia) with a header to the top far corner. Mike Davis assisted on the UNH goal. Maine tied the game late in the first half on an in-direct kick. Philip Reed (Gorham, Maine) began the play and found Kiaran McCormack (Dundalk, Ireland) who rifled a shot that UNH keeper Mike Jenne had no shot at. For McCormick, a defender, it was his first career goal. Neither team would find the back of the net the remainder of the game. Maine keeper Kostic finished with four saves in the game. He moves to 2-6-1 on the season. Jenne stopped two shots for the Wildcats and moves to 1-3-4. The Black Bears return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 10 when they travel to Boston University of a 7 p.m. game with the Terriers.
