Binghamton Downs Black Bears in America East Men's Soccer Action

ORONO, Me. - The Binghamton Bearcats scored once in the first half and added two more goals in the second half to knock off the Black Bears in America East Conference action. With the loss Maine falls to 4-6-3 overall and 1-4-2 in the America East, while Binghamton improves to 10-1-5, and 4-1-2 respectively.

Charles Darkwah scored the Bearcats lone first half goal off a pass from Michael Austin in the 26th minute. Graham Munro scored in the 62nd minute off a set piece. Six minutes later, the tandem of Darkwah (2nd goal) and Austin (2nd assist) secured the Bearcats their tenth win of the season.

The Bearcats outshot the Black Bears 19-to-8 and held the corner advantage 6-0. Stefan Gonet earned the shutout for the Bearcats with 3 saves while Maine goalkeeper Chad Mongeon (Essex Junction, Vermont) made 8 saves.

Maine returns to action on Tuesday, October 26th when the Black Bears face Holy Cross in a non-conference match at Falmouth High School. The match is slated for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off and is Poster Day. The first 100 youth to show up will recieve a full sized color photo of the Maine Black Bears.
