Men's Soccer Falls to Stony Brook 1-0

ORONO, Maine-- The University of Maine men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Stony Brook on a rain-soaked Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field in Orono, Maine. Maine falls to 3-12-1 on the season and 1-5-1 in conference play, while Stony Brook improves to 9-6-2 overall and 3-3-1 in conference play. In the first half, Stony Brook struck first when Mladen Ramic threw a ball in from touch and was headed on by a Maine defender into their own goal. Maine was charged with an own goal 40:16 into the period. The second period was a lot of back and forth between the teams but neither could get much done on the soggy field. Stony Brook had a 13-6 advantage in shots. Ben Piotrowski made two saves while replacement Giacomo Brunino made one save in the game. Stony Brook keeper Dawid Ditrich made two saves in the game for the Seawolves. The Black Bears return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 31 when they travel to Albany in the final game of the regular season. The game will start at 2 p.m.
