Men's Soccer Falls to Albany in Season Finale

ORONO, Maine-- The University of Maine men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Albany in the season finale on Thursday afternoon in Albany, N.Y. Dimitri Anastasiou (Colchester, Conn.) led the Black Bears with three shots in the game. It was the fifth one-goal loss of the season for the Black Bears. Albany opened the scoring 2:54 into the contest when Don Johnson had a shot from the top of the arc that went into the upper right corner of the goal, beating Maine keeper Nemanja Kostic (New Belgrade, Serbia). Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard the rest of the game. The Great Dane finished with a 13-7 advantage in shots, but had just one shot more than the Black Bears in the second half. Maine falls to 3-13-1 on the season with the loss and 1-6-1 in America East play. Anastasiou led Maine with three shots, while Thomas McCole (Toronto, Ontario) finished the game with a pair. Kostic made five saves in the game for the Black Bears. He falls to 3-11-1 on the season. Albany keeper Steward Ceus stopped three shots.
