Men's Soccer Falls to Harvard

ORONO, Maine-- The University of Maine men's soccer fell to 29th ranked Harvard 2-0 on Wednesday afternoon in the season finale at Alumni Field in Orono. The Black Bears fall to 5-10-2 on the season, while Harvard improves to 10-4-0. Harvard took a 1-0 lead at 39:48 when Andre Akpan crossed the ball to Baba Omosegbon who was in the box. Omosegbon beat Maine keeper Nemanja Kostic (New Belgrade, Serbia) for his second goal of the season. The Crimson took the 1-0 lead into intermission. Harvard added to its lead at 49:32. Marcel and John Stamatis teamed up to find Akpan. He was able to beat Kostic with shot to the lower left corner of the goal that nearly went wide. For Akpan, it was his eighth goal of the season. Maine had several good scoring chances in the second half, but was unable to beat Harvard keeper Austin Harms. Kostic finished with six saves for the Black Bears. He falls to 4-8-2 on the season. Harms made three saves for Harvard. He improves to 7-1-0. Harvard had a 20-8 advantage in shots in the game. The game was the final one for Maine seniors Corey Sinclair (Richland, Wash.), Kyle LeDuc (Topsham, Maine) and Dimitri Anastasiou (Colchester, Conn.).
