![]() Maine's Adam Baxter Passes Away

ORONO, Maine - Adam Baxter, 19, of Skegness, England, a freshman on the University of Maine men's soccer team, passed away early Saturday morning, November 24, 2007. Baxter started 16 of 17 games for the Black Bears during his rookie season and was named to the America East All-Rookie Team. UMaine Reaction to Baxter's Death: Maine President Dr. Robert Kennedy This is a tragic loss, which is devastating to UMaine's close-knit community. I wish to extend my sympathies to Adam Baxter's family members and friends.
Maine Dean of Students Dr. Robert Dana This is a tragedy of indescribable proportion. A death is always horrible, a student death is beyond compare.
Maine Director of Athletics Blake James I was deeply saddened when I received the news of this horrible tragedy. Adam was a member of our athletic family and will be greatly missed. Our sympathy and prayers go out to Adam's family.
Maine Head Coach Pat Laughlin The tragic loss of Adam Baxter's life is very difficult for all of his teammates and friends. Adam was an outstanding person both on and off the field. We will look to each other, our families, and the extended University of Maine Community for support. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Baxter family at this most difficult time.
