![]() Maine Swimmers Fall to Stony Brook

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's swimming and diving team lost a close meet 123-120 and the men's swimming and diving team fell 134 to 103 to America East foe Stony Brook on Sunday at Wallace Pool. The Black Bear women were led by Megan Wolters with wins in the 200 back and 200 free and Shannon Scott with wins in both diving events . The men's team was led by Keith Burgie winning both diving events and Andy Magiera with a win in the 200 free. For the women, Sarah Holmsten (Red Wing, Minn.) won the 1000 free with a time of 11:07.08 and she was followed by Kelsey Wilson (North Adams, Mass.) in second place. Megan Wolters (Orono, Maine) picked up wins in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.59 and the 200 back with a time of 2:07.75. Katrine Alcaide (Harpswell, Maine) won the 50 free in a time of 24.99. Brittany Harrington (Alexandria, Va.) won the 500 free with a time of 5:17.97. In the diving events, Shannon Scott (Cumberland, Maine) won both the one and three meter events, while Jessica Pratt (Eddington, Maine) and Kristen Johnson (Lewiston, Maine) took second and third in the one meter. On the men's side, Andy Magiera (Surry, Maine) won the 200 free in a time of 1:49.80 and added a second place finish in the 200 butterfly. Martin Fitch (Bangor, Maine) finished second in the 200 IM at 2:04.55. The 400 free relay team also picked up a first place finish. In the diving events, Keith Burgie (Arundel, Maine) won both the one and three meter events, while Isaac Forbes (Glenburn, Maine) finished second in the three meter and third in the one meter. The Maine swimmers of the meet were Brittany Harrington, Crystie McGrail, Mike Goede and Barret Nichols, while Keith Burgie was named Maine diver of the meet. Next up for the women will be a meet on November 13 at Northeastern, while both teams will face Bowdoin on November 23 in Brunswick, Maine at 5:00 pm.
