Card and Burgie Honored By America East

ORONO, Maine - University of Maine's Chris Card (West Bath, Maine) has been named America East Men's Swimming Performer of the Week, and Keith Burgie (Arundel, Maine) earned Men's America East Diving performer of the week honors. Vermont's Colleen Clark (Unionville, Conn.) was named America East Women's Swimming Performer of the Week, while Boston University's Alex Crerar (Regina, Saskatchewan) earned Women's Diving Performer of the Week honors. The awards were announced Tuesday, January 16.

Card won two individual events and was on a first-place medley relay team as the Maine men defeated Providence 176-114. He was first in the 100 breast stroke with a time of 1:00.03 and took first place in the 200 breast stroke in 2:15.87. Card was also second in the 200 IM finishing at 2:09.36.

Burgie won both the one-meter and three-meter events against Providence on Sunday afternoon. In the one-meter, he posted 280.70 points and scored 288.90 in the three-meter event.

Clark placed first at Dartmouth on Wednesday in the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:56.35 and was a member of the 800 freestyle relay team that was victorious in 8:00.08. Against Sacred Heart and Bridgeport on Saturday, she finished first in both the 100 freestyle in 59.85, and the 200 free style in 2:10.07. Clarke also took first-place in the 100 freestyle against Holy Cross and Central Connecticut State on Sunday to stay unbeaten in the event this season.

Crerar set a personal best of 300.85 points in the three-meter, winning the event. She also scored 235.75 in the one-meter, finishing fourth.

The Maine women's team will swim on January 20 at New Hampshire, while both teams will swim on January 26-27 at Boston College.
