![]() Swimming Announces End Of Season Honors
March 30, 2006 ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's and women's swimming and diving teams held their end of the season banquet on Sunday, March 26. During the banquet, the team awarded several honors, including naming Colleen Miller, Tal Shpaizer and Nathan Richard as team Most Valuable Performers in 2005-06. Freshman Colleen Miller (Missoula, Montana) earned Most Valuable Performer honors in her first season on the team. At the America East Championships, Miller was fourth in the 200 free, fourth in the 500 free, and thirteenth in the 200 backstroke. Junior Tal Shpaizer (Shoham, Israel) set a new school record in the 200 IM and finished sixth at the America East Championships in the event. Shpaizer also added a fourth place finish in the 200 back and fifth place in the 100 butterfly. Miller and Shpaizer were on the 800 free relay team and 400 medley relay teams that set school records. Freshman Nathan Richard (Vergennes, Vermont) was fifth in the 50 free, second in the 100 breast and fifth in the 200 breast at the America East Championships. His time in the 100 breast broke a school record that was set in 1987. Other honors were as follows: Switzer Dedication Award

In addition, captains for the 2006-07 season were named. Seniors Sarah Warren and Lauren Viles will captain the women's team, while senior Eric Palmer and junior Chris Card will captain the men's team. The diving captain will be senior Shannon Scott.
