Black Bears Track Competes At Dartmouth Relays

HANOVER, N.H. - The University of Maine men's and women's track teams competed in the 36th Annual Dartmouth Relays on Sunday, with the men's team finishing fourth and the women's team finishing ninth. Nate Holmes won the men's 60 meter hurdles for the Black Bears.

For the women's team, Kathryn Souviney (East Vassalboro, Maine) finished third in the 60 meter hurdles in 9.05. Souviney also finished third in the pentathlon with 3285 points. In the pole vault, Allyson Thomas (Auburn, Maine) finished sixth, clearing 2.90 meters. Micralyn Wiechman (Buxton, Maine) was fifth in the shot put with a throw of 11.97 meters.

The men's team was led by Nate Holmes (Westbrook, Maine), who took first place in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.48. Also in the 60 meter hurdles, Christopher Warren (Woburn, Mass.) finished third with a time of 8.55. The 4x800 meter relay finished third overall, while the distance medley relay finished first with a time of 10:29.93. Warren finished third in the high jump, clearing 1.88 meters.

Next up for the Black Bears the men will participate in the Terrier Cup at Boston University on Saturday, January 15th and the women will run at the Challenge Cup in Providence on Sunday, January 16th. For more information on University of Maine athletics, please visit www.GoBlackBears.com.
