Track Competes At ECAC And IC4A Championships

BOSTON, Mass. - The University of Maine men's and women's indoor track and field team competed in the ECAC Indoor Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center and the IC4A Indoor Championships at Boston University on March 3 and 4. The Black Bears were led by Donald Drake, who was seventh in the 1000 meters.

At the ECAC Championships, Jessica Belliveau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) was 16th in the preliminaries of the 800 meters with a time of 2:12.83. Hana Pelletier (Belgrade, Maine) ran the 1000 meters and was 18th in the preliminaries in 2:59.32. In the weight throw, Clarissa Michalak (Cumberland, Maine) was 14th overall with a throw of 15.29 meters. The Black Bears 4x800 meter relay team of Stephanie Jette (Lovell, Maine), Hana Pelletier, Vanessa Letourneau (Fairfield, Maine) and Jessica Belliveau was 13th overall in 9:13.90.

For the men in the IC4A Championships, Miles Bartlett (Casco, Maine) was 15th in the preliminaries of the mile with a time of 4:13.34. In the 800 meters, Eric Libby (Hampden, Maine) was 21st in the preliminaries with a time of 1:53.88. Donald Drake (Portland, Maine) ran a preliminary time of 2:25.67 in the 1000 meters. In the finals, Drake finished in 2:28.24 for a seventh place finish. In the 5000 meters, Kirby Davis (Falmouth, Maine) was thirteenth overall with a time of 14:30.39. Max Ludwig (South Portland, Maine) competed in the 55 meter hurdles with a time of 7.66 in the preliminaries. In the semifinals, Ludwig ran a 7.73 for sixteenth place.
