![]() Track Competes At Wildcat Invitational

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of Maine men's and women's outdoor track teams competed at the Wildcat Invitational hosted by New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon. The Black Bears were led by Hana Pelletier with a win in the 800 meters, Ababio Dzigbodi was first in the shot put, and Paul Rupprecht with a first place finish in the 1500 meters. For the women, Hana Pelletier (Belgrade, Maine) was first and Kristen Vidlak (Thunder Bay, Ontario) second in the 800 meters with times of 2:17.26 and 2:18.63, respectively. In the 200 meters, Samantha Homer (Charlton, Mass.) was second with a time of 26.77. In the 100 meter hurdles, Erin Hatch (Saco, Maine) took fourth place with a time of 15.39. Heather Jovanelli (Brewer, Maine) was sixth in the 1500 meters in 4:47.94, while Katelyn Andrle (Clifton, Maine) was fifth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:08.27. Jessica Hudec (Chicago, Ill.) was the Black Bears top finisher in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 12:37.93. The Black Bears added a first place finish in the 4x400 meter relay and a third place finish in the 4x100 meter relay. In the field events, Erin Hatch was third in the high jump at 1.52 meters. Rachel McCaslin (Westbrook, Maine) was second in the long jump going 5.70 meters and Stephanie McCusker (Lisbon, Maine) was second in the triple jump at 11.46 meters. In the pole vault, Shira Panelli (Salinas, Calif.) was third clearing 3.04 meters. Maegan Burke (Kennebunk, Maine) was fifth in the shot put at 11.46 meters, Micralyn Wiechman (Buxton, Maine) was third in the discus with a throw of 34.95 meters and Clarissa Michalak (Cumberland, Maine) was second in the hammer with a throw of 47.54 meters.
In the men's meet, Paul Rupprecht (Yonkers, N.Y.) was first in the 1500 meters in 3:59.46, while Jeff Caron (Auburn, Maine) was fourth in 4:03.51. In the 100 meters, Joe Shepard (Westbrook, Maine) was fourth in 11.42 and he was seventh in the 200 meters in 23.11. Eric Libby (Hampden, Maine) was fifth in the 400 meters with a time of 51.23, while Kirby Davis (Falmouth, Maine) was third in the 5000 meters in 15:00.88. In the 110 meter hurdles, Christopher Warren (Woburn, Mass.) was second in 15.43. In the 400 meter hurdles, Matt Holman (Gardiner, Maine) was fourth in 59.04 and in the 3000 meter steeplechase Jon McGonagle (Portland, Maine) was third in 10:18.56. Maine's 4x400 meter relay team picked up a first place finish. In the field events, Dzigbodi Ababio (Willingboro, N.J.) took first place in the shot put with a throw of 15.07 meters. Christopher Warren was fourth in the high jump at 1.88 meters. Carson Hartman (Fort Kent, Maine) was fifth in the long jump at 6.27 meters and was third in the triple jump at 12.54 meters. In the discus, Justin Averill (South Portland, Maine) was third in 40.27 meters. Patrick Marass (Springvale, Maine) was fifth in the javelin at 41.66 meters. Next up for the Black Bears, select members of the team will compete in the Sea Ray Relays hosted by the University of Tennesee and the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, California.
