Arel Gordon To Run In NCAA Indoor Championships

ORONO, Maine - The NCAA has announced that Arel Gordon is one of sixteen student-athletes to be selected to run in the 60 meters at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The meet will be held on March 9 and 10 at the University of Arkansas at the Randal Tyson Track Center.

Arel Gordon (Rochester, N.Y.) set the school record and America East conference record in the 55 meters this season with a time of 6.19. He also set a school and conference record in the 200 meters with a time of 21.29. This marks the first time since 1999 that a University of Maine men's track and field student-athlete has participated in the NCAA Championships.

The 60 meter preliminaries will be run on Friday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. Gordon is currently slated to run in the second heat, lane four. The finals will take place on Saturday, March 10 at 7:25 p.m.
