Cross Country Splits Meet With New Hampshire

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's cross country team defeated New Hampshire 19 to 37, while the men's team was defeated 20-36 by the Wildcats in a dual meet held on the Maine cross country course. The Black Bears took both individual races, as Hana Pelletier won the women's race in 18:46 and David Woods took first in the men's race with a time of 26:14.

In the women's race, Pelletier (Belgrade, Maine) was first by 53 seconds. Lauren LaRoche (Auburn, Maine) and Teig Choroszy (Saco, Maine) were second and third overall with times of 19:39 and 19:40. The top finisher for New Hampshire in fourth place was Hillary Greene (Old Town, Maine) in 19:57. Shelby Howe (Columbia, Maine) was sixth in 20:15, while Erin Lawler (Waterville, Maine) was seventh in 20:25 to round out the top five scorers. Also running for the Black Bears were Jessica Hudec (Chicago, Ill.) in 20:47, Lindsay Burlock (Caribou, Maine) in 22:27, Lorelei von Tagen (Boise, Idaho) in 22:30 and Chelsea Corcoran-Quadt (Pensacola, Fla.) in 23:24.

For the men, Woods (York, Maine) had an eleven second edge over Rodolfo Crispin, who was the top finisher for New Hampshire in 26:25. The next finisher for the Black Bears was Charles Therriault (Amherst, Mass.) in seventh place with a time of 26:53. Jon McGonagle (Portland, Maine) was eighth in 26:57, followed by David Englehutt (Dartmouth, N.S.) in ninth at 27:05. Tyler Alexander (Richmond, Vt.) rounded out the Maine scorers with a time of 27:22. Also running for the Black Bears were Michael Dabrieo (Sanford, Maine) in 27:44, Travis Vicary (Old Town, Maine) in 28:11, Eric Olafsen (Portland, Maine) in 28:16, Ian Fraser (Brewer, Maine) in 28:35 and John Snow (Brewer, Maine) in 28:46.
