![]() Cross Country Competes At NCAA Regionals

BRONX, N.Y. - The University of Maine men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA Northeast Regional on Saturday morning in Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, New York. The Maine men were 19th overall with 477 points, while the women finished 18th with 520 points. Kirby Davis was the top finisher for the men in 21st place and Jessica Belliveau was the top women's finisher in 60th place. The women's six kilometer race was won by Salome Kosgei of Iona in 20:45.3. Freshman Jessica Belliveau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) was the top finisher for the Black Bears with a time of 23:03.7 in 60th place. Freshmen Jolene Belanger (Glenburn, Maine) and Elonnai Hickok (Rutledge, Pa.) both crossed the finish line in 23:31.5 in 82nd and 83rd place overall. Senior Shelby Howe (Columbia, Maine) finished in 24:53.9 and junior Teig Choroszy (Saco, Maine) rounded out the top five scorers with a time of 24:54.6. Laura Brustolon (Mystic, Conn.) and Brenna Walsh (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) also competed for Maine in the race. The men's ten kilometer race was won by Martin Fagan of Providence in 30:40.7. Senior Kirby Davis (Falmouth, Maine) led the Black Bears with a 21st place finish and a time of 32:28.5. Senior Joshua Trevino (Rochester, N.H.) was 46th overall with a time of 33:11.6. Senior Jon McGonagle (Portland, Maine) finished in 34:33.7 for 111th place. Freshman Miles Bartlett (Casco, Maine) was 115th overall with a time of 34:39.3. Freshman Christopher Harmon (Scarborough, Maine) rounded out the five scorers for the Black Bears with a time of 36:59.4 and 184th place overall.
The top five men's team finishers were Iona (59 points), Providence (72 points), Syracuse (102 points), Harvard (161 points) and Columbia (182 points). America East schools Stony Brook New Hampshire and Boston University finished ahead of Maine. The top five women's team finishers were Boston College (82 points), Iona (85 points), Providence (97 points), Columbia (128 points) and Cornell (135 points). From America East, New Hampshire and Stony Brook finished higher in the standings than the Black Bears. The meet completed the cross country season.
