Kirby Davis Named Academic All-District

ORONO, Maine-- University of Maine track and field student-athlete Kirby Davis (Falmouth, Maine) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team on Thursday, June 1. His name will be placed on the ballot for Academic All-America honors later this month.

Davis is a junior on the men's cross country and track teams and has a 3.54 GPA in civil engineering. He became the first Black Bear to win the America East cross country individual championship in 2005. He was also a member of the cross country team that won the overall America East cross country title in 2004. Earlier this year he finished fifth overall in the 5000 meters at the America East Indoor Track and Field Championships and was third in the 5000 meters in the conference outdoor championships. He was also third in the 5000 meters in the 2006 America East Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He was recipient of the 2006 M Club Dean Smith Award and is also a Maine Scholar-Athlete. Davis has been named to the America East All-Academic Team for cross country and has earned a place on the America East Academic Honor Roll.
