Pair of Cross Country Runners Garner America East Weekly Honors

ORONO, Maine - University of Maine cross country runners Jessica Belliveau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) and David Englehutt (Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) were named the America East Women's and Men's Runners of the Week on Tuesday for their outstanding performances this past weekend at the UMass Invite in Amherst, Mass.

Belliveau won the women's individual race in a time of 17:39, which helped lead Maine to the team title with 35 points. The Black Bears finished ahead of host-school Massachusetts (40 points) and Vermont (49 points). Belliveau was one of five Black Bears runners who finished in the top 12 of the team standings.

Englehutt was the highest finisher for the Black Bears as he placed sixth in a time of 25:14. The performance helped lead Maine to a second-place finish (63 points) in the five-team event. Englehutt was one of five Black Bears who finished among the top 23 runners in the meet.

Both Black Bear cross country teams return to action this Friday when they play host to New Hampshire at 2 p.m., at the Maine Cross Country Course on the Orono campus.
