 Maine Sweeps America East Cross Country Honors
Sept. 19, 2006 BOSTON, Mass. - University of Maine's Kirby Davis (Falmouth, Maine) and Jessica Belliveau (Quispamsis, New Brunswick) have been named the America East Men's and Women's Cross Country Performers of the Week, respectively. The awards were announced by the conference office on Tuesday, September 9. Davis won the individual men's race and led the Black Bears to a 24-32 win over the Wilcats of New Hampshire in a dual meet on Friday, September 15. He ran the 8k course in 25:23, ten seconds fast than the second place finisher. In her first collegiate meet, freshman Jessica Belliveau led wire-to-wire in a dual meet against New Hampshire. Belliveau finished the 5k course in 18:14, however the Black Bears were defeated 20-15 overall by the Wildcats. The Black Bears will run on September 23 at Massachusetts before returning home on September 30 for the Murray Keatinge Invitational.
