The Catamounts improved to 16-8 and 6-5 in the league, and moved a half-game ahead of Maine into sole possession of third place in America East. The Black Bears got within two at 76-74 with :09 left on a Whittier layup, but Vermont converted four free throws down the stretch to pull out the win.
