BALTIMORE, Md. - Ashley Underwood scored 18 of her team-high 22 points in the second half, but it wasn't enough as Maine fell to UMBC, 60-47, Wednesday night at the RAC in Baltimore.

Maine fell to 8-16 overall and 4-9 in America East play, while UMBC improved to 15-9 overall and 7-6 in the league.

Maine held a 30-17 lead with 14:30 remaining in the game, but the Retrievers used a 23-9 run over the next 10 minutes to go up 40-39. UMBC took the lead on a Brittnie Hughes jumper, as the Retrievers never trailed the rest of the way.

Bracey Barker had 11 points in the game for the Black Bears, as she netted six of those in the first half.

The Black Bears found themselves trailing 13-8 with 8:33 to go in the first half, but they went on an 11-0 run the rest of the period to take a 19-13 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The run was sparked by a Lindsey Hugstad-Vaa jumper and was capped with a pair of free throws from the power forward. Hugstad-Vaa scored all eight of her points in the second, marking the third-straight game she has equaled her career-high in points.

Sharri Rohde netted 15 points for UMBC, while Matea Pender added 13.

Maine returns to action Saturday when it travels to Hartford to face the Hawks at 4 p.m., at Chase Arena. The game will be broadcast live on NESN and then re-played nationally on CSTV at 6:30 p.m.
