Lindsey Hugstad-Vaa (Apple Valley, Minn.) added seven points in the win, which put her above 200 points for her career. Both teams struggled during the opening moments of the game, as they exchanged leads throughout the first half. Maine closed out the half on a 14-7 run after being down five late in the first half, and took a 34-30 lead into halftime. The Black Bears' halftime advantage was aided by Schrader's 18 first-half points.
The Black Bears continued to shoot the ball well in the beginning of the second half, as they went on an 11-4 run. Boston University clawed its way back with a 12-0 run midway through the second half. The run was sparked by a layup from Rachael Vanderwal and allowed BU to gain the lead at 50-49 when Katie Meinhardt hit a jumper with 9:49 to go. The Terriers went up by five moments later at 64-59 with 3:17 remaining on a Vanderwal jumper.
However, Maine countered and went on a 10-2 run the rest of the game to pull out the come-from-behind win. The game-winning surge was sparked by an Underwood three-pointer and was aided by four points from Schrader in the last minute. Boston University was led by Jeyska Burks-Wiley who poured in 16 points. Erica Kovach chipped in 13 points and added a game-high 12 rebounds.
