Women's Basketball Falls at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, MASS. - Ashley Underwood scored a team-high 21 points, but it wasn't enough as Maine fell to Holy Cross, 72-64, at the Hart Center on Thursday night in Worcester, Mass.

The Black Bears trailed by as many as 20 points in the second half, but mounted a late rally and got within six at 68-62 in the final minute. However, Holy Cross converted its free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Maine fell to 5-2 on the season and had its four-game winning streak snapped. Holy Cross improved to 4-6 and was led in scoring by Brittany Keil's game-high 22 points.

Katie Whittier tallied a double-double for Maine with 12 points and 10 rebounds, marking her second-straight double-figure rebounding game. Freshman guard Amanda Tewksbury netted 11 points, marking her second-consecutive double-figure scoring contest.

The Black Bears return to action on Sunday when they take on Atlantic 10-foe Saint Joseph's, Pa. at 2 p.m. in Philadelphia, Pa.
