Complete Release in PDF Format
The University of Maine women's basketball team closes out the 2007-08 regular season on Wednesday night when it plays host to border-rival New Hampshire at 7:30 p.m., in Alfond Arena. The game is Senior Night, as guard Kris Younan will be honored prior to the game for her four years of commitment to the program. Tickets still remain for the game and can be purchased by calling 581-BEAR or toll-free (800) 756-TEAM. Maine (7-21, 4-11 America East) has won nine straight at home versus the Wildcats, including a 64-47 win last season. However, UNH has won two straight in the series with both games coming in Durham. The Wildcats defeated the Black Bears, 70-55, back on Jan. 30, at Lundholm Gym on the UNH campus.
Maine would clinch no worse than the seventh seed in next week's America East Tournament with a win on Wednesday. The Black Bears are led in scoring by Amanda Tewksbury and Colleen Kilmurray, as both are averaging 9.0 points per game. Tewksbury is averaging 11.8 points in conference games, which is good enough for 8th place in the league. Tewksbury has led Maine in scoring in the last two games, including an 11-point performance at first-place Hartford on Saturday.
Ashley Cerniglia leads New Hampshire in scoring at 11.3 points per game, while Candace Williams leads the team in rebounding at 6.8 rpg.
