Women's Basketball America East Schedule Released

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine women's basketball team's 2009 America East schedule was released on Wednesday afternoon. A stretch of three-straight home games from Feb. 12-18 highlights the schedule, which begins on Jan. 7 at New Hampshire. Following the UNH tilt, the Black Bears return home for their America East home opener on Saturday, Jan. 10 versus defending league champion Hartford. Maine then finds itself on the road for the next three games beginning on Jan. 13 at Albany. The road swing continues on Jan. 17 at UMBC, and concludes on Jan. 21 at Vermont. Five of Maine's next seven contests will come in the friendly confines of Alfond Arena, as the stretch begins with back-to-back home games versus Boston University (Jan. 24) and Binghamton (Jan. 31). The Black Bears return to the road for two-straight games at Stony Brook on Feb. 4, and Hartford on Feb. 7, but come back to Orono for three-consecutive contests in the Alfond. The homestand begins on Feb. 12 versus New Hampshire, continues on Feb. 15 against UMBC, and concludes on Feb. 18 versus Albany. A visit to Binghamton on Feb. 21 is followed by a home date against Vermont on Feb. 25. The Black Bears are on the road for one final regular season game on March 1 at Boston University. The game will be played in Agganis Arena, which is home to the Terriers hockey team. Maine and BU last squared off in Agganis during the 2005-06 season. The Black Bears close out their 2009 America East regular season schedule on March 7, when they play host to Stony Brook.
