2005: Named to the America East Second Team... named to the America East All-Academic Team... received 2005 NFHCA Division I National Academic squad honors... started all 20 games for the Black Bears... recorded three goals and added four assists for 10 points... scored a goal in Maine's season-opener against Sacred Heart (8/27), a 5-2 Maine win... also recorded a defensive save in the game... scored a penalty-stroke goal in Maine's 3-2 win over Ohio (9/9)... notched the game-winner at UMBC (10/22) on a penalty stroke... took both of Maine's penalty strokes on the season and converted both of them... named to the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll... also named a UMaine Scholar-Athlete Award winner.

Before Maine: A transfer from the University of Toronto where she played field hockey and earned Rookie of the Year honors... played in the U21 Canadian Championships where she played for Team Ontario which placed fourth... played for the GOA Reds in the National Capital Cup held in Ottawa in 2002 and the team won the championship... has participated in many national and international tournaments with the GOA Reds... also played basketball and ran cross country in high school.

Personal: Born June 24, 1983... daughter of Ed and Shirley Fernandes... an elementary education major... brother, Wayne, currently plays on the men's Canadian Field Hockey Team and sister, Tara, plays field hockey for Boston College.
