STORRS, Conn.-- The University of Maine field hockey team dropped a 1-0 decision to Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon in Storrs, Conn. The Black Bears fall to 0-2 on the season with the loss, after falling to fifth-ranked UConn to open the season. The Black Bears and Pioneers remained scoreless through the first half. Sacred Heart's Danielle Vasley scored the lone goal of the game on a penalty stroke at 48:07. Neither team would score the rest of the game. Sacred Heart had a 17-9 advantage in shots. Amy Zdrojesky (East Greenville, Pa.) led Maine with four shots, including a pair on goal. Erin Reusch (Salem, N.H.) recorded a defensive save for the Black Bears. Rebecca Giroux (Augusta, Maine) made six saves in goal and falls to 0-1 on the season. Kristen McIntire had three stops for the Pioneers. The Black Bears return to action on Friday, August 31 when they face Dartmouth at 3:00 p.m. in Hanover, N.H.
