Field Hockey Falls at Albany

ALBANY, N.Y.--The University of Maine field hockey team fell to #22 University at Albany by the score of 3-1 on Saturday afternoon in Albany, N.Y. With the loss, Maine fell to 3-6 and 0-1 in America East play while Albany moves to 6-7 and 1-0 in league play. Maine was led by Brittney Cummings (Belfast, Maine) who notched her first goal of the season. Maine fell behind at the eight-minute mark when Albany's Ashley Carr beat Maine's Brittany Fleck (Vancouver, British Columbia) on a rebound. Cummings was able to tie the game four minutes later when Máire Dineen (Torono, Ontario) took a free shot and found an open Cummings who beat Albany goalie Ashley Ross. Albany's Sarah Deane scored unassisted right before halftime and Michelle Sampson scored 10 minutes into the second half for the final outcome. Maine had seven shots on net while Albany had nine. Fleck finished with eight saves and Ross with six. The Black Bears return to action tomorrow at Colgate at 12 p.m.
