Field Hockey Falls to Colgate

HAMILTON, N.Y.--The University of Maine field hockey fell to Colgate by the score of 2-1 in Hamilton, N.Y. on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, Maine goes to 3-7 on the year while Colgate goes to 8-4. Maine was led by Máire Dineen (Toronto, Ontario) who scored her third goal of the season. Colgate's Lauren Carey (Medfield, Mass.) scored in the 29th minute to give the Red Raiders the lead. The Black Bears answered two minutes later when Dineen scored off a corner from Nicole Emery (Winthrop, Maine) and Mallory Anderson (Hampton Falls, N.H.) Colgate's Lauren Denenga (Harare, Zimbabwe) goal with three minutes left in the first half proved to be the last goal of the game as neither team could score in the second half. Both teams had 15 shots for the game. Maine's Brittany Fleck (Vancouver, British Columbia) played well in net, making eight saves. Sarah Pedersen (State College, Pa.) made six saves for Colgate. The Black Bears return to action Saturday when they host rival New Hampshire at 12 p.m.
